TDEE Calculator

Estimate how much energy you use in a typical day. Use the result as a starting point, then compare it with several weeks of body-weight and intake data.

Estimated starting point

2,250 kcal/day

Estimated resting energy: 1,452 kcal/day

This calculator provides a population-based estimate, not a diagnosis or prescription. Energy and protein needs vary, and people who are pregnant, under 18, managing a medical condition, or recovering from an eating disorder should seek individualized professional guidance.

How this estimate works

The calculator first estimates resting energy expenditure with the Mifflin–St Jeor equation. It then applies an activity multiplier to produce a total daily energy expenditure estimate.

Activity multipliers are broad categories, so the result is not a direct measurement. Track average intake and weight trend for several weeks before making small adjustments.

Frequently asked questions

Is TDEE the same as maintenance calories?

TDEE is an estimate of average daily energy expenditure. A matching average intake may maintain weight, but real maintenance needs are best inferred from intake and weight trends over time.

Why does the equation ask for a sex category?

The published Mifflin–St Jeor equations use different constants for male and female groups. Choose the equation that is most appropriate for you, and treat the result as an estimate rather than an identity statement or medical measurement.
